How to use WGS 84 ECEF and Local ENU Workbench

WGS 84 semi-major axis and flattening define the prime-vertical radius. Forward ellipsoidal equations produce ECEF x/y/z. Subtracting the entered origin and applying its orthonormal ENU rotation gives local components; a norm certificate checks the rotation.

  1. Enter origin json [latitude, longitude, ellipsoidal height m], point json [[latitude, longitude, ellipsoidal height m],…].
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • Up to 100 [latitude degrees, longitude degrees, ellipsoidal height meters] rows. Latitude −90–90, longitude −180–180, height −10000–10000000 m. Approximate floating-point arithmetic; very small offsets can lose precision after Earth-scale coordinate subtraction. This is coordinate conversion on a fixed reference ellipsoid, not a datum/epoch transformation, geoid/mean-sea-level height conversion, surface distance, navigation solution or survey certification. At poles, longitude selects the local frame orientation.
  • Local calculation only; no input persistence or external lookup. Text/JSON is limited to 30000 characters and output to 1000000 characters. Numeric model inputs and precision/work limits are stated on this page. Approximate JSON numbers retain full stored values; exact arithmetic outputs retain decimal or fraction strings. Unsupported states fail explicitly.

Common questions

Is the entered height elevation above sea level?

It must be height above the WGS 84 reference ellipsoid. Sea-level or orthometric heights require a separate geoid model, which this local calculation does not fetch or apply.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
