How to use Forwarded Proxy Header Inspector
Inspect Forwarded proxy elements, quoted node identifiers and per-hop parameters without trusting the chain. Keep parameters grouped by the proxy element that supplied them, identify IPv4, IPv6, unknown and obfuscated node values, and report invalid host or protocol declarations.
- Provide forwarded field value.
- Choose the supported mode and run the tool. Review its assumptions and any reported errors.
- Copy the result or download a separate output; reset to clear the current form.
Good to know
- 20 KB of printable ASCII header text, 100 list elements and 100 parameters per element. Duplicate parameter names in an element are refused case-insensitively.
- This strict authoring profile requires no whitespace around an equals sign. Quoted strings support HTTP backslash escapes. Invalid declared values receive diagnostics; unknown extensions remain uninterpreted.
- Node ports follow the RFC syntax of up to 5 digits; values above 65535 are flagged separately. IPv6 zone identifiers, IPvFuture addresses and non-ASCII host text are outside this profile.
- The chain is untrusted input. Missing or removed proxy hops cannot be reconstructed, and no parameter should be used as an authenticated client address from this result.
- Inputs are processed on this device and are not automatically saved or uploaded.
Common questions
Is the first for value my real client IP address?
The header only claims a forwarding history. A trusted deployment must establish which proxies may supply or append it before making an identity or access-control decision.
Does this change my original input?
No. The tool returns a separate result. Review that output before using it in another application.
