How to use Focused Mouse and Wheel Tester

Observe pointer movement, button transitions and wheel values this browser actually delivers to a confined panel. The report keeps pixel, line and page wheel units distinct instead of inventing a physical distance or device polling-rate claim.

  1. Run and explicitly arm/focus the test surface.
  2. Move, press buttons or scroll within it; ordinary scrolling and Tab/Escape exit remain available.
  3. Review bounded event evidence and clear or download it explicitly.

Good to know

  • Only events on the focused, explicitly armed local surface are observed. There is no global pointer hook or pointer capture outside the surface. Blur disarms; Tab/Escape are not prevented.
  • Latest 100 retained records and at most 10,000 observations per session. Pointermove samples are coalesced; the panel does not promise complete event capture, polling rate, latency measurement or hardware diagnosis.
  • Coordinates are approximate CSS pixels relative to the current area. Wheel deltaMode values are preserved as pixels/lines/pages; no cross-mode physical distance normalization or acceleration correction is inferred. Wheel/context-menu defaults remain available.
  • No gesture recording outside this area, permission request, persistence or network transfer occurs. Reset/new Run/page exit cancels pending frames and removes handlers; snapshots may reveal deliberate local interaction.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Why are wheel values from two devices different?

Browsers and operating systems can report different delta modes, acceleration and event grouping. This tool preserves the observed unit mode and values rather than labeling them as millimeters or a universal device score.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
