How to use Earned Value Status Workbench

Work-package PV, EV, AC and BAC are summed before ratios are calculated. Choose how remaining budgeted work is projected: at budget, at cumulative CPI, or at CPI times SPI. Zero denominators remain unavailable rather than producing infinity.

  1. Enter work-package json (id, pv, ev, ac, bac).
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • Exact-grid inputs are plain decimals with at most six places and magnitude≤1e9. Raw JSON number spelling is checked before conversion; decimal strings can preserve exact grid values. Exact rational intermediates are bounded to 8192 bits. 1–100 distinct work packages, one currency and reporting date. Nonnegative values only; PV and EV must not exceed BAC. Schedule variance is a currency-value comparison, not elapsed time. Progress measurement, baseline approval, accounting validity and future performance are not verified. Completion scenarios are user assumptions, not forecasts or advice.
  • Local calculation only; no input persistence or external lookup. Text/JSON is limited to 30000 characters and output to 1000000 characters. Numeric model inputs and precision/work limits are stated on this page. Approximate JSON numbers retain full stored values; exact arithmetic outputs retain decimal or fraction strings. Unsupported states fail explicitly.
  • Educational user-assumption arithmetic only. No live prices, laws, tax rules, quotes or financial advice.

Common questions

Does a schedule variance of -20 mean twenty days late?

No. EV minus PV is measured in the same value units as the budget. It does not estimate a calendar delay, which requires the underlying schedule and task relationships.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
