How to use CSV As-of Join Workbench

Attach a real right-table observation to each left record without interpolating values or multiplying rows. Right keys are sorted locally and must be unique per group; unmatched records remain present with blank right fields.

  1. Enter left csv, right csv, left numeric order column, right numeric order column, left grouping columns (optional), right grouping columns (optional), maximum numeric distance (blank for unlimited).
  2. Choose the settings for csv as-of join workbench, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 100,000 characters per CSV,5000 records per side,100 right groups and5000 output records. Finite strict decimal keys with magnitude≤1e15;exact bounded decimal comparisons avoid binary-float tolerance/tie drift.
  • Numeric keys only. No implicit dates,timezones or text collation. An exact match can be allowed or excluded independently of direction; no synthetic values are created.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

What happens when two observations are equally near?

Choose earlier or later explicitly. Duplicate right keys within a group are refused instead of choosing an arbitrary source row.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
