How to use Color Token Contrast Matrix

Review an existing opaque color-token system as a reusable dataset. Full pair coverage helps identify usable text combinations without choosing colors automatically, and threshold decisions use the full stored ratio rather than a rounded display number.

  1. Enter named foreground colors json, named background colors json.
  2. Choose the settings for color token contrast matrix, then run the tool.
  3. Review the result and any limitations before copying or downloading it.

Good to know

  • 1–30 unique names per palette, 100 characters per name and up to 900 actual CSV pairs. Only opaque #RGB/#RRGGBB sRGB colors are supported.
  • WCAG relative-luminance calculation for supplied colors, not measured rendering. 3, 4.5 and 7 thresholds require the relevant size/context/exception interpretation. No transparency, gradients, APCA or complete page/WCAG certification; CSV formula-like names are neutralized.
  • Processing is local. Output is limited to 1,000,000 text characters unless a stricter file limit is stated.

Common questions

Are near-threshold ratios rounded up to pass?

No. Decisions compare the full stored calculation against each threshold, and the CSV retains that stored numeric ratio. A displayed decimal must never turn a value below the required threshold into a pass.

Is this input sent to a server?

No. The application processes this input inside your browser tab and does not save it to persistent storage.
