How to use Chemical Equation Workbench

The parser counts recognized elements and parenthesized groups. Exact rational row reduction finds the atom matrix null space. A single positive direction is scaled to primitive whole-number coefficients and independently checked against every element count.

  1. Enter neutral molecular equation (ascii -> and +).
  2. Choose the stated convention and check the units and supported model.
  3. Calculate, inspect the result, then copy or download it.

Good to know

  • Neutral ASCII molecular formulas only:118 element symbols, integer subscripts1–1000, parentheses nesting up to8,200 characters per formula,20 total species,20 elements and1e9 atoms per element per formula. No charges, hydrates, isotope notation, phases, leading coefficients, brackets or reaction prediction. Nullity must equal1 and every coefficient must be strictly positive on its entered side. Exact arithmetic is capped at8192-bit reduced intermediates and20000 elimination updates. Balancing does not establish feasibility, yield, safety or a laboratory procedure.
  • Runs locally without input persistence. Text/JSON fields have a30000-character cap unless a stricter page limit applies; output has a1000000-character cap. Exact-grid workflows preserve six-decimal arithmetic, while approximate workflows use finite floating-point values. JSON downloads retain complete stored numeric values and exact fractions where provided. Unsupported formats and detected numeric or work-budget excess return an error or a clearly unresolved classification.

Common questions

Why can a plausible equation be refused?

A skeleton may lack a positive balance on the entered sides or may have several independent balances. This bounded workflow reports those conditions instead of silently removing species, moving them across the arrow or choosing extra assumptions.

Is the input uploaded or saved?

No. The tool calculates inside this browser tab and provides a local download; it does not persist your input.
