How to use Absorbing Chain Outcome Workbench
Check exact row probabilities and positive-edge reachability, solve the fundamental linear equations and verify first-step time and probability conservation witnesses.
- Use the example as the schema; replace its labels and entered model assumptions.
- Check exact row probabilities and positive-edge reachability, solve the fundamental linear equations and verify first-step time and probability conservation witnesses.
- Calculate, inspect the complete witnesses and limitations, then copy or download the JSON report.
Good to know
- 1–12 distinct states and at most 8 nonabsorbing states. Every probability is a nonnegative decimal string at most 1; rows must sum exactly to 1.
- An absorbing state has self-transition 1. Every other state must reach one through positive edges; closed nonabsorbing classes are refused. Stationary distributions, time-varying transitions, continuous time and real-world transition estimation are outside this model.
- Local calculation with no upload, input persistence or outside lookup. Model JSON is limited to 30,000 characters and 10,000 values. Decimal quantities are strings with up to six places; count fields use plain JSON integers. Exact fractions are capped at 8,192 bits. The complete JSON output is limited to 1,000,000 characters; approximate numbers preserve their stored values. Unsupported states fail explicitly.
Common questions
Why are visits different from remaining transitions?
Visits to transient states include the initial time-zero state. Their expected total equals the expected number of transitions before first entering an absorbing state; an absorbing start has no remaining transient visits or transitions.
Are my model inputs saved or sent to a server?
No. This model runs in the current browser tab and creates a local JSON download. It does not save your input or call an external data service.
